Primary Colors 2008 brief re-release

Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 6:00 pm EST

To celebrate Independence Day, the devs are re-releasing Primary Colors 2008, one of the rarest collections in all of PackRatLand. So rare, that there's a contest on to guess the number of players who have feated it!

Since many cards will be released in a short timeframe, and I'll be away from the computer celebrating the holiday, the Squeaker won't be posting about which cards are where. Please refer to the Market Tracker for the latest details!

Happy Independence Day

We're celebrating the 4th of July with a very short re-release of one of PackRat's rarest collections - Primary Colors 2008. Look for it in the Premium Markets this weekend only!

Just how rare is it? Guess how many players have earned the PC08 Feat of Wonder and find out. The closest answer on the PackRat Fan Page in the next hour wins 50 Tickets!

Wednesday Special Event

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:28 am EST

Welcome PackRat Players!

We're celebrating two of our favorite countries today with two brand-new collections - Canada Day and Independence Day! We'll be releasing cards over the next few hours, having a few fun contests, and hosting a little XL Appreciation Party at 1pm CDT. If you're not an XL Subscriber yet, there's still time to take advantage of the 150 Ticket per month offer.

We're starting off with a couple of cards from Independence Day and a trivia contest. Enjoy!

Also, we have our first Twitter contest winner: Heather Hillier (@Ladybug7858)! Contact support to receive your tickets! We'll be choosing more winners throughout the day, just include #packrat in your tweet.

More Cards, More Fun! Two more cards have just been released, one from each of our new collections (and one at a special price for a limited time)! It's not too late to enter either of our trivia contests too!

At 1pm CDT, we're hosting a little XL Appreciation Party. For an hour, we'll be releasing a fun, diverse collection of cards to the XL Markets. If you're not an XL Subscriber yet, there's still time to take advantage of the 150 Ticket per month offer.

We have our third Twitter contest winner: Leanne Lee (@leanneabean)! Contact support to receive your tickets or a free month of XL! We'll be choosing our two final winners soon - just include #packrat in your tweet.

You're Awesome

Thanks for joining us for the XL Appreciation Party! Thousands of rare and retired cards were purchased, so many that Vancouver itself was briefly threatened with a natural disaster. The 150 Ticket XL offer will last through today, so signup now if you haven't yet.

Today's final card, a delicious Bowl of Poutine from Canada Day, is now available in the XL and Standard Markets. Plus, we have another great contest for everyone - check it out.

Finally, we have two more winners of our Twitter contest: @MCHasher and @geeners. Congratulations! Contact support to receive your tickets or a free month of XL.

Thanks to everyone for making July 1st a super-fun day in PackRat Land!

Facebook Credits & Free Premium Cards

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:23 am EST

If you've bought cards from the Premium Markets in the past few weeks, you probably know that you can now purchase cards from those markets with Tickets or Facebook Credits. PackRat is one of the first apps to use Facebook's new platform-wide currency.

If you've got some cash burning a hole in your pocket and don't plan to use Facebook Credits in any other apps, buying Tickets is a more economical choice; whereas Facebook Credits are 10/$1 regardless of how many you buy, Tickets get cheaper when you buy in bulk (even moreso if you're an XL player).

So why should you care about Facebook Credits? Because, believe it or not, with a little help from your friends you can get them for free. Yes, free!

Wednesday Fun

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 8:48 pm EST

A Yellow Box this evening announces that there will be a special event tomorrow at 10am CDT, with a special treat for XL subscribers around 1pm.

There will be contests and at least one new collection. The new cards will be "celebrating two of our favorite countries"... given the time of year, we assume one set will be 4th of July-themed; the other country could be France (which celebrates Bastille Day on July 14) or, conceivably, England (definitely one of the Squeaker's favorite countries!), which could be tied in via the American Revolution. We shall see!

Don't forget, Wednesday is your last chance to sign up for XL with a monthly allotment of 150tx.

Wednesday Fun

We're celebrating two of our favorite countries throughout the day tomorrow! Join us for a bunch of new cards and some great contests. The festivities will begin around 10am CDT. We'll also have a little extra fun for our XL Subscribers beginning at 1pm CDT.

Remember, tomorrow is the last day to subscribe to XL and receive 150 Tickets each month instead of the standard 100!

XL Membership Promo extended

Monday, June 29, 2009 at 10:37 pm EST

According to a Yellow Box posted tonight, there has been a tremendous response to the XL promo currently running, so they've extended it by one more day.

Sign up on or before July 1 (Wednesday), and your monthly allotment will be 150tx; sign up after that, and you'll get 100tx per month.

All XL members receive:

  • 2x the pack space
  • Access to the XL Markets (Singapore and Vancouver)
  • More tickets when you purchase them (ex: $10 = 125 tickets)
  • The warm fuzzies of knowing you're supporting a dedicated, hardworking, creative group of devs

Plus, there is going to be a special event Wednesday (details forthcoming) in which XL players will apparent get something special.

Yellow Box Announcement:

Coming Soon

July 1st is going to be a fun day in PackRatLand involving two of our favorite countries! More details soon.

We've had a super response to our latest PackRat XL promotion, so we are extending it by one day. Be sure to sign-up before July 2nd to receive 150 Tickets each month plus all the other XL goodies. You'll also get to be part of a little XL Appreciation Event during Wednesday's festivities!

Monday Market Sightings

Monday, June 29, 2009 at 10:23 pm EST

There were market sightings from 3 current collections and one very rare retired collection today:

Current Sets

can now be completed without tickets

Ring of Hercules
2500 points
250cr from Vancouver/Singapore

Pangea Patrol
can now be completed without thawed cards

Cave Painting
500 points
50cr from Singapore

Dino Dennis
750 points
25tx from Paris/Dubai

Recipes no longer requiring tickets:

Heavy Club + Cave Painting + Stone Wheel

The Summit

Mountain Goat

We're terming this sighting a "flash" because the card only appears to have cycled through the markets once before disappearing again. However, check the Market Tracker to be sure.

Interestingly, this is the first time (that we're aware of) that a retired card has been made available in the XL Markets, a move we highly endorse!

The Squeaker Returns!

Monday, June 29, 2009 at 9:07 pm EST

Well, it took awhile, but I finally have my lovely MacBook Pro back and all hooked up, and am caught up enough on my real-world work, so the Squeaker can resume publishing!

I'm not going to go through everything that happened last week. But if you've been away, the most salient bit is that there's a new collection (completed today) called Arctic Snowball Fight.

And with that, let the Squeaking commence!

The Squeaker goes AWOL

Monday, June 22, 2009 at 6:47 pm EST

Squeaker fans - the logic board in my MacBook Pro died this weekend, so I'm without all of the scripts I use to format & update the site for the next 3-5 days. In the meantime, please watch the Market Tracker. We'll be back ASAP.
